Back when mobile phones served only for texting and calling, most people owned small pocket cameras, and so did I. It all started with a small metallic BenQ camera which I still have. It was love at first sight, and immediately I set out to experiment with different perspectives.

Years rolled. Interests broadened. New discoveries enticed me. Enrolling with MIPP (Malta) and investing in new gear pushed me to delve deeper in the wonderful world of photography.

And while for the majority of time I created images for personal pleasure, the odd jobs started to pop out. But changes in life made me inconsistent with the practice, many times shelving the gear for extended periods.

Until Covid came.

As a sales agent at a travel agency, work was scarce. And was forced to stay at home for a few months. That’s when I decided to take photography with more seriousness. I took further courses, upgraded my gear again, and ventured more.

And the opportunity arrived. Out of the blues, I had the chance to change a 14 year career completely. From the travel industry, I made it to a full time photographer. And while I always hesitated to call myself a photographer, now it became a profession! I could finally comfortably say:

“I’m a photographer! :D “

Jobs varied from dinners, expos, MMA fights and even magazine portraits of very influential people! And while I felt uneasy in the beginning, and felt that I failed several times, I always took the opportunity to learn and evolve. Because there’s no limit when it comes to learning. My previous years in the hotel and travel industry assisted me greatly to socialise with people and make them feel comfortable. Especially given that 90% of the people I shot for magazines expressed discomfort!

But what helped me most was street photography, specifically activism. In 2019 I went vegan, and within a month I became an animal rights street activist. I started shooting events, where I was constantly on the lookout for people’s expressions in low light conditions, without being noticed. All while engaging with the same people to raise awareness. I could have either succumbed to the challenges, or take advantage. While light is a huge aid, I befriended the shadows to create more dramatic images.

All of this can be enjoyed through the images I decide to display on this website, and social media. Hope one day, you can be fruit of my inspiration too
